Surroundings Huisduinen

The beautiful house is located in Huisduinen, an old whaling village with a great history. The location is truly unique, at the foot of the lighthouse (the Lange Jaap) and at the foot of the dike.

Directly in front of the house you will find a playground with playground equipment, a small field and a basketball court where children can play for hours.

With a walk of three minutes you are on the dike with a great view of the sea, the sandbank de Razende Bol. If you walk for five minutes you are on the kilometer-long sandy beach of Huisduinen.

The more than 5 km long (grass) dike that runs along the Sea promenade is the year-round unloading area for dogs. On the beach, dogs may run out on the beach all day between 1 October and 1 May. After 1 May dogs are only allowed to be loose between 19:00 and 09:00 hours, on a leash they may be on the beach the whole day.

Within walking distance you can enjoy a snack and drink at the dog friendly restaurants: Storm aan Zee, Nogal Wiedus and beach pavilion Factor 30. You will also find Huisduinen dairy farm Tesselaar and horse riding school Bruin.

Besides the Lange Jaap, the beach, the dunes and nature Huisduinen is known from Fort Kijkduin. The fort, dating from 1811, was part of a defense line that was built by Napoleon. The fort is now a museum, which mainly tells the story of the period that it was a fortress. There is also a North Sea aquarium in the fort which is very nice for children. Behind the fort, in the dunes, there are still a large number of bunkers. A number of these bunkers are open to the public.

Huisduinen is also the ultimate base for a day trip to Texel, the ferry is 10 minutes away from the house. Also if you want a day trip to Friesland, Alkmaar, Schoorl or Hargen Huisduinen is the perfect base. In the spring months you can also enjoy the kilometers of tulip fields in Julianadorp.

In the city of Den Helder you will find many more sights. For example, you can visit our world-famous library School 7, the rescue museum, the marine museum, the Willemsoord museum harbor, the Kampanje theater, Fort West shore or climbing park KlimVallei.

Huisduinen is a coastal village to the west of Den Helder that originated in the 8th century. Traditionally, Huisduinen used to be a whaling village. Huisduinen has been swallowed by the sea several times, but always managed to 'start' a bit further inland. Currently it is a popular location to live. Close to the sea and beach with all amenities in the vicinity. From the dike at Huisduinen you have a fantastic view of the sandbar Razende Bol and Texel.
